1 Samuel 27David thought to himself, “The best thing I can do is go over to my enemy.” 1 Samuel 27:1

David did not leave a man or woman alive … for he thought, “The survivors might inform on us and say, ‘This is what David did.’ ” Such was his practice as long as he lived in Philistine territory. Achish, king of Gath, trusted David. 1 Samuel 27:12

Lord, protect me from my enemies. Keep me from seeking security in the land of my enemies. Rather than “think to myself” may I think on your laws, love, and commands. May that keep me in Your Will.

  1. I’ve been reading this just recently. Wow! Right! Some of the Biblical stories are surprising. When you watch the arc of David’s relationship with God there are some zigzags there. I pray for us all to follow hard after the Lord!
