Be Comforted

When Jesus Whispers

“A beggar named Lazarus longed to eat what fell from the tables of the rich, but none would give him a bite. Even the dogs came and took the crumbs he found. The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich also died and were in torment in Hades. Looking up, they saw the beggar by the side of Abraham.

“ ‘Father Abraham,’ the rich called. ‘Have pity on us and send the beggar to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool our tongues, because we are in agony in this fire.’

“But Abraham replied, ‘Friends, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while this poor man received bad things. He is now comforted and you are in agony.’ I say to you: come, you who are weary and I will give you rest. Friend, come today. Jesus (Luke 16:19-25)
