Believers of the First Century and Us

Fuzzy Thinking

Believers of the first century mixed the Word with faith, and God confirmed it with visible results.

When Peter let down his nets at Jesus’ word, the catch nearly sank the boats (Luke 5:4–7).

When crowds needed food, Jesus multiplied loaves and fish until everyone was satisfied, with baskets left over (Matthew 14:19–21).

He turned water into wine (John 2:7–11), supplied tax money from a fish (Matthew 17:27), healed the sick, and raised the dead.

The Word they heard brought life and power because it was united with faith. Hebrews 4:2 reminds us that God’s Word is most effective when believed.

The same promises remain for us today, because “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). When we hear His Word and trust it, we can expect His provision, healing, and power to flow just as it did in the beginning.
