2 Samuel 15

2 Samuel 15“I am ready; let the Lord do to me whatever seems good to him.” 2 Samuel 15:26

David continued up to the Mount of Olives weeping. 2 Samuel 15:30

David arrived at the summit where people used to worship God. 2 Samuel 15:32

Lord, I am ready; I am ready to weep and laugh, worship and praise you, ascend and descend to the depths. My life is in your hands. Do with me as you wish. Whether it means life or death, there will your servant be. 2 Samuel 15:21

2 Samuel 14

2 Samuel 14“Let the Lord his God prevent the avenger of blood from adding to the destruction.” 2 Samuel 14:11

“God does not take away life; instead he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged to him.” 2 Samuel 14:14

“The king is like an angel of God in discerning good and evil.” 2 Samuel 14:17

“My lord has wisdom like that of an angel of God: he knows everything that happens.” 2 Samuel 14:20

Lord, you desire mercy, not revenge: forgiveness, not justice. May you draw to yourself those who are banished from your sight due to their rebellious spirit.

2 Samuel 13

2 Samuel 13Tamar was a virgin and it seemed impossible for him to do anything to her. 2 Samuel 13:2

“Come to be with me, my sister!” 2 Samuel 13:11

“Don’t, my brother! Don’t force me. Don’t do this wicked thing.” 2 Samuel 13:12

But since he was stronger than she, he raped her. Then he hated her more than he had loved her. 2 Samuel 13:14-15

Lord, you hate sin. And sin fulfilled… never is. It always leads to a desire for more. Without you, remaining pure and holy is impossible. But with you, ALL things are possible. Please restore me to you.

 

We are to be in the world but not of it: separated internally, not externally. Oswald Chambers

2 Samuel 12

2 Samuel 12“If all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. Instead, you despised me.” 2 Samuel 12: 8 & 10

“Can I bring back my son? No. I will go to him, but he will not return to me.” 2 Samuel 12:23

Lord, I ask that my sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, and all whom I love be brought into your grace, mercy, and love.

2nd Samuel 11

2nd Samuel 11David sent someone to find out about Bathsheba. 2nd Samuel 11:2

David sent messengers to get Bathsheba. 2nd Samuel 11:4

David got her husband, Uriah, drunk. 2nd Samuel 11:13

David sent some men against the strongest defenders and some of the men in David’s army fell. Uriah died. 2nd Samuel 11:17

Bathsheba mourned for her husband. 2nd Samuel 11:26

David had her. 2nd Samuel 11:27

Lord, David sent men to check onBathsheba. He sent messengers to get her. He sent men to die so he could have her. May you send your Spirit to me today. May you have me and save me. Please forgive me for my sins. 

 

Christ left the misunderstandings and misconceptions of others to correct themselves. Oswald Chambers

2 Samuel 3

2 Samuel 3“Do not come into my presence unless you bring Michal, daughter of Saul, when you come to see me.” 2 Samuel 3:13

“Give me my wife.” 2 Samuel 3:14

So Ish-Boshen gave orders and had her taken away from her husband. 2 Samuel 3:15

Lord, David had sons by Ahinoam, Abigail, Maacha, Haggith, Abital, and Eglah. Yet, he wanted more. He wanted the wife he’d rejected. May I be satisfied with the blessings you give me.

The Lord promised David, “By my servant David I will rescue my people Israel from the hand of all their enemies.”  2 Samuel 3:18

 

When we preach the historical facts of the life and death of our Lord as the are conveyed in the New Testament, our words are sacred. Oswald Chambers

 

2 Samuel 2

2 Samuel 2In the course of time David inquired of the Lord. 2 Samuel 2:1

“The Lord bless you for showing this kindness. May the Lord now show you kindness and faithfulness.” 2 Samuel 2:5-6

Lord, may I not wait to inquire of you, but do so as soon as circumstances change. May I show kindness to all you bring to me today. And may you in turn, show kindness to me and help me to be faithful to you.
