2nd Kings 21

A Warning to All Nations

A Man's Life Is Nothing“I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance. They have done evil from the day their forefathers came out of …” 2nd Kings 21″14-15

The king did evil in the eyes of the Lord. He followed the detestable practices of the nations. The king led the people astray. 2nd Kings 21:2 & 9

“If only you will be careful to do everything I commanded and keep the WHOLE LAW.” ~ God  2nd Kings 21:8

Lord, we have rebelled against you. I have rebelled against you. I have done evil in your eyes. I have led others astray. Forgive me, Father. Remove my sin and heal my soul.

Crises always reveals a person’s true character. Oswald Chambers

God’s training ground, where the missionary weapons are found, is the hidden, personal, worshipping life of a saint. Oswald Chambers.

2 Kings 20

Turn Your Face to the Wall

This is what the Lord says: “Put your house in order.” 2 Kings 20:1

“Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully, and with wholehearted devotion have done what is good before your eyes.” 2 Kings 20:3

“I have heard your prayers and seen your tears. I will heal you.” 2 Kings 20:5

“What will be the sign that the Lord will heal me?”2 Kings 20:8
“Shall the shadows go back 10 steps?”2 Kings 20:9
“Have it go back.”2 Kings 20:10

The Lord made the shadow go back 10 steps. 2 Kings 20:11

To often saints are simply doing work for God that has been instigated by their own human nature, and has not been made spiritual through determined discipline. Oswald Chambers

We have a tendency to forget that a person is not only committed to Jesus Christ for salvation, but also committed, responsible, and accountable to Christ’s view of God, the world, and of sin and the devil. Oswald Chambers.

2 Kings 19

King Hezekiah sent the palace administrator, the secretary, and the leading priests to the prophet Isaiah. They told Isaiah, “Pray for the remnant that still survives.” 2 Kings 19:2-4

Isaiah said to them: “Listen! This is what the Lord says. ‘Do not be afraid of what you have heard—those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. I am going to put such a spirit in Rabshakeh that he will return to his own country. There I will have him cut down by the sword.” 2 Kings 19:5-7

Lord, God over all the kingdoms on earth, give ear to my prayer and hear. Open your eyes and see. Deliver us from the hand of those who insult your name so that all the kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God!

God rarely allows a person to see how great a blessing he is to others. Oswald Chambers

Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or difficulty. Oswald Chambers.

2 Kings 18

The supreme commander, chief officer, and a large army called to the king, demanding he surrender. 2 Kings 18:17

“If you say, ‘We are depending on the Lord our God … you will eat your own dung and drink your own urine.’ 2 Kings 18:22, 27

“Do not think that the Lord will deliver you. Your king misleads you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.‘ How can the Lord deliver Jerusalem from my hand?” 2 Kings 18:32

Lord, I depend on you today to deliver me from my enemies. Please keep me from sin, keep me from harm, and keep me tucked tight in your arms. Amen

2 Kings 18

King Hezekiah broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had burned incenses to it. 11 Kings 18:4
In Kings (2 Kings 18:4), the Nehushtan (or Nohestan) (Hebrew: נחושתן or נחש הנחושת) is the derogatory name given to the bronze serpent on a pole first described in the Book of Numbers, which God told Moses to erect to so that the Israelites who saw it would be protected from dying from the bites.

Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah either before him or after him. 2 Kings 18:5

The Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. 2 Kings 18:7

Lord, may I always trust in you. Please be with me today. May I be successful in whatever I do within your will.

A missionary is someone in whom the Holy Spirit can say, “You are mine.” Oswald Chambers

The Holy Spirit interprets and explains the nature of Jesus to me to make me one with my Lord. Oswald Chambers.

2 Kings 17

The imported people did not worship the Lord, so he sent lions among them and they killed some of the people. 2 Kings 17:25

One of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria came to live in Bethel. He taught them how to worship the Lord. 2 Kings 17:28

“You must always be careful to keep the decrees and ordinances, the laws, and the commands God wrote for you.” 2 Kings 17:37

Lord, there are many who say your ordinances, laws, and commands no longer apply; that we have “progressed” to a place in history where your words are no longer relevant. The people in Samaria held a similar view. They assumed you could be worshipped along side Baal, the god of fertility and “Lord Prince of the Earth.” Even within the Body of Christ today, there are those who believe we honor you by rejecting your words. I pray that your words will find fertile ground in my heart. That through your Holy Spirit you will teach me how to worship you as Lord of my life and Lord of Heaven and Earth. Please send teachers and leaders to instruct those in the Church who do not know how to worship you as Lord. Amen.

If you are always keeping blessings to yourself and never learning to pour out anything “to the Lord” other people will never have their vision of God expanded through you. Oswald Chambers

2 Kings 17

The King of Assyria discovered that the king of Israel was a traitor, for he had sent envoys to the king of Egypt. 2 Kings 17:4

The Israelites secretly did things against the Lord their God. 2 Kings 17:9

They did not trust in the Lord their God. They rejected his decrees. They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless. 2 Kings 17:14-15

They sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the Lord2 Kings 17:17

So the Lord rejected all the people of Israel; he afflicted them and gave them into the hands of plunderers. 2 Kings 17:20

Lord, I confess that I am a traitor. I secretly do things against you. I do not trust in your goodness, grace, and mercy. I reject your decrees and instructions for me. I follow worthless teachings, chase after fantasies, and become an ungrateful, worthless servant. Please do not reject me. Do not afflict me as I deserve. Do not give me into the hands of the evil one. Rather, rescue me from myself. Please, Lord, have mercy on me.
