The creative power of redemption comes through the preaching of the gospel, but never because of the personality of the preacher. Oswald Chambers

God Did Not Appoint Us To Suffer Wrath

1 Thessalonians 5

God Did Not Appoint Us To Suffer WrathThe day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace!” and “Be Safe!”, destruction will come on them suddenly. The Lord’s day will come as labor pains on a pregnant woman who knew she was expecting but is suddenly surprised. They will not escape. Thessalonians 5:2-3

Brothers, this day should not surprise you. Therefore, be alert. Practice self-control. Thessalonians 5:6

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Thessalonians 5:9

Not even the smallest detail of life happens unless God’s will is behind it.  Prayer is not only asking, but an attitude in which asking is perfectly natural. Oswald Chambers

Live In Order To Please God

1 Thessalonians 4

Live In Order To Please GodLive in order to please God. 1 Thessalonians 4:1

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified – transformed into the image of Christ. 1 Thessalonians 4:3

Avoid sexual immorality. Learn to control your own body. Learn to live with your own wife. Learn to acquire a wife. Do not live in passionate lust like the heathen who do not know God. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-6

He who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God who gives you his Holy Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 4:8

Do not be dependent on anybody. 1 Thessalonians 4:12

In the natural realm, if a person does not hit back, it is because he is a coward. But in the spiritual realm, it is the very evidence of the Son of God in him if he does not hit back.

A personal insult becomes an opportunity for a saint to reveal the incredible sweetness of the Lord Jesus.

Every time I insist on having my own rights, I hurt the Son of God.

A disciple realizes that it is his Lord’s honor that is at stake in his life, not his own honor.

Never look for righteousness in the other person, but never cease to be righteous yourself.

Never look for justice; never cease to give it.

We Are Not Trying To Please Men, But God Who Tests Our Hearts

1 Thessalonians 2

We Are Not Trying To Please Men, But God Who Tests Our HeartsYou know, brothers, our visit was not a failure. 1 Thessalonians 2:1

Our approval to you does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you. 1 Thessalonians 2:3

We are men approved by God to be entrusted with the Gospel. We are not trying to please men, but God who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4

We dealt with you as a father deals with his own children: encouraging them, comforting them, urging them to live lives worthy of God. 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12

When you received the word of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is: the very words of God, which is at work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13

The Jews displeased God and are hostile to all men. The wrath of God has come upon them at last. 1 Thessalonians 2:15-16

We were torn away from you. Satan stopped us. 1 Thessalonians 2:18

Buy you are our glory and joy and crown. 1 Thessalonians 2:20

The church ceases to be spiritual when it becomes self-seeking, only interested in the development of its own organization. Oswald Chambers

May You Become Imitators of Our Lord

1 Thessalonians 1

May You Become Imitators of Our LordYour work produced by faith . . .
Your labor prompted by love . . .
Your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord . . . causes us to thank God for all of you. 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

We know that . . . With words . . . With power . . . With the Holy Spirit . . . With deep conviction . . . God chose you. 1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

We lived among you for your sake as a testimony and example so that you might become imitators of us and of the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 1:5-6

You welcomed the message given by the Holy Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7

You became a model to all believers. 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7

Therefore, we always thank God for all of you and mention you in our prayers. 1 Thessalonians 1:2

The true test of our spirituality occurs when we come up against injustice, degradation, ingratitude, and turmoil. Oswald Chambers
