Rain On Me, Lord!

Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime Zechariah 10:1

Rain On Me, Lord!

Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone. – Zechariah 10:1

He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows. – Isaiah 30:23

I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing. – Ezekiel 34:26

You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. – Psalms 65:9

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8

“In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” – John 16:23

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 1 Corinthians 3:6

These verses should not be used in a “name it and claim it” manner. They are not the foundation of some prosperity gospel. But in his time, God has promised to bless us. We may have to go through rivers at flood stage, droughts that devour crops, and times of testing that remove all hope but the hope we have in Christ. Be encouraged. God will act on our behalf in his time.

Diviners See Visions That Lie. They Tell Dreams That Are False

Diviners See Visions That Lie. They Tell Dreams That Are False

Diviners see visions that lie. They tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd. – Zechariah 10:2

“On the day Jerusalem is a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling, every prophet will be ashamed of their prophetic vision. They will not put on a prophet’s garment of hair in order to deceive.” – Zechariah 13:4

“I shepherded the flock marked for slaughter, particularly the oppressed of the flock. Then I took two staffs and called one Favor and the other Union, and I shepherded the flock. In one month I got rid of the three shepherds. The flock detested me, and I grew weary of them and said, “I will not be your shepherd. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish. Let those who are left eat one another’s flesh.” –  Zechariah 11:7-9

God speaks to us; not by visions and dreams, but by words. – Oswald Chambers

It is the saddest thing to see people who are trying to serve God depending on that which the grace of God never gave them. – Oswald Chambers

Here we are at the end of 2020 still trying to serve God with our old ways. We demand our “religious rights to worship” and yet we surrendered all rights when we swore allegiance to Christ and his Kingdom. Could it be our temple worship sickens God? Could it be that is why we are banned from gathering in our shuttered churches? Consider God’s command: “return to me.”  Perhaps, like Elvis, God left the building. In 2021 let us seek to return to God wherever we may find him.
