“You have heard it said: ‘You shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of my Father.’
“My Father humbles you in order to test and see if you will obey his words. It is he who causes you to hunger. He then feeds you in order that you will learn to live on his every word. My Father nourishes you with knowledge and understanding of him. For this reason he sent me, for I am the bread of life, the bread made without yeast. I am the fulfillment of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. My Father said to Moses, ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap the harvest, wave the first sheaf before the Lord.’ I am the first grain of the new harvest: I am the first fruits to the Lord, the seed that fell and now is first sheaf of the new harvest. I am the one buried dead and risen alive. Because I am the living bread that comes down from heaven, whoever feeds my words and those of my Father will never go hungry. Come now and be filled so that both your body and soul will prosper.” — Jesus
