Grow In Grace and Knowledge of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

2 Peter 3

Grow In Grace and Knowledge of Our Lord and Savior Jesus ChristSince you are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth with its home of righteousness, be at peace with Christ. 2 Peter 3:18-19

Paul’s letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as these same people distort other Scriptures to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:16

See that you are not carried away by the errors of these lawless men. 2 Peter 3:17

Instead, grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18

Discouragement is disillusioned self-love. Oswald Chambers

Stimulate Yourselves To Wholesome Thinking

2 Peter 3

Scoffers will follow their own evil desires. 2 Peter 3:3

Our Lord knows perfectly well that once His word is truly heard, it will bear fruit sooner or later. – Oswald Chambers

The Lord Knows How To Rescue Godly Men From Trials

2 Peter 2

The Lord Knows How To Rescue Godly Men From TrialsAngels who sinned were sent to hell and put in dark, gloomy, dungeons with chains. There they will be held for judgement. 2 Peter 2:4

God brought the flood on ungodly peoples. He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes. This is an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly. God rescued Lot, a righteous man, living among the ungodly. Dad after day Lot was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men. In his righteous soul, Lot was tormented by the lawless deeds he saw and heard. If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials. God will hold the unrighteous for the day of judgement. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desires of the sinful nature of their flesh and despise God’s authority. 2 Peter 2:5-10

Bold, arrogant men speak blasphemies in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed. Like brute beasts, they too will perish. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. With eyes full of adultery, they view others as a potential sexual partner. They never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable. They have left the straight way and wandered off.  2 Peter 2:12-15

God’s sense of restraint will always come as a “still small voice.” So faint that no one except a saint of God will notice it. If you continue to grieve His Spirit, there will come a time when that crisis cannot be repeated, because you have totally quenched Him. Oswald Chambers

There Will Be False Teachers Among You

2 Peter 2:1-3

There Will Be False Teachers Among YouBut there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. The will secretly introduce their own destructive teachings. They will deny the Lord, who has bought them and bring sudden destruction on themselves. Many will follow their sexual freedom, and because of them will cause others to dishonor the way of truth.  In their covetousness these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1-3

When a crisis arises that we instantly reveal upon whom we rely. Our Lord has a right to expect that those who name His name have an underlying confidence in Him. Oswald Chambers

Understand That No Prophecy Came About By the Prophets Own Interpretation

2 Peter 1:12-21

Understand That No Prophecy Came About By the Prophets Own InterpretationI will always remind you of these things. I think it is right to refresh your memory. 2 Peter 1:12-13

Our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me how I will soon be put aside. 2 Peter 1:14

I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things I say and teach. 2 Peter 1:15

Understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophets own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20-21

Our Lord has a right to expect that those who name His name have an underlying confidence in Him. God expects His children to be so confident in Him that in any crisis they are the ones who are reliable. When a crisis arises we instantly reveal upon whom we rely. – Oswald Chambers

2 Peter 1

The Divine Nature of God Will Make You Effective and ProductiveGrace to yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:2

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Christ. 2 Peter 1:3

Make every effort to add: Goodness – Knowledge – Self-control – Perseverance – Godliness – Brotherly Kindness – Love. 2 Peter 1:7

If you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will make you effective and productive. 2 Peter 1:8

The saint who satisfies the heart of Jesus will make other saints strong and mature for God. God seems to plant His saints in the most useless places. God places His saints where they will bring the most glory to Him, and we are totally incapable of judging where that may be. – Oswald Chambers

The Chief Shepherd Will Give You the Crown of Glory

The Chief Shepherd Will Give You the Crown of GloryElders, be shepherds of God’s flock. Be examples. 1 Peter 5:4

Be alert! 1 Peter 5:8

The God of all grace will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:11

Common sense is a gift that God gave to our human nature—but common sense is not the gift of His Son. Supernatural sense is the gift of His Son. Our ordinary abilities will never worship God unless they are transformed by the indwelling Son of God. Oswald Chambers
