The Lord Will Come Like a Thief In the Night

1 Thessalonians 5

The Lord Will Come Like a Thief In the NightThe day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. But that day should not surprise you like a thief. We do not belong to the night or the darkness. So then let us be alert. 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6

Put on faith and love as a breastplate. Put on hope of salvation as a helmet. 1 Thessalonians 5:8

Live In Order To Please God

1 Thessalonians 4

Live In Order To Please GodLive in order to please God. Do this more and more. 1 Thessalonians 4:1

It is God’s will that you avoid sexual immorality. Learn to control your own body. Make your body holy and honorable to the Lord. Do not be consumed with passionate lust. In this matter, no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-6

Sexual sin harms others besides those who engage in it. In adultery, the spouse is always wronged. Premarital sex wrongs the future partner by robbing him or her of the virginity that ought be brought to the marriage.

He who rejects this instruction rejects God who give you his Holy Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 4:8

Present your bodily members as instruments of righteousness to God. Romans 6:13

Measure every kind of experience you have by the Lord himself. Oswald Chambers

May God Clear the Way for Us

1 Thessalonians 3

May God Clear the Way for UsMay God clear the way for us to come to you. 1 Thessalonians 3:11

May God Strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless. 1 Thessalonians 3:13

In every dimension in which you are not real, you will argue or evade the issue altogether rather than come to Jesus. – Oswald Chambers

(Are you still refusing to be baptized as an outward sign that you are his? If so, will you go to Christ now die to self and rise with him? May God clear a way for you to come to him.)

Urge Your Children to Live Lives Worthy of God

1 Thessalonians 2

Urge Your Children to Live Lives Worthy of GodAs a father, encourage, comfort, and urge your children to live lives worthy of God. 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12

The Holy Scripture is not the word of men, but the word of God which is at work in those who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13

We were torn away from you for a short time – in person, but not in thought. 1 Thessalonians 2: 17

I wanted to come to you again and again but Satan stopped us. You are our hope, our joy, our crown, and our glory in the presence of the Lord Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 2:19

I was afraid the tempter might have tempted you and our efforts might have been useless. 1 Thessalonians 2:6

Sin is deliberate and determined independence from God. The Bible alone deals with sin, not “sins.” The first thing Christ confronted in people was the heredity of sin. In the presentation of the Gospel message we have ignored this. – Oswald Chambers

We Are Trying to Please God

1 Thessalonians 2

We Are Trying to Please GodOur visit to you was not a failure. 1 Thessalonians 2:1, though some appeal to you from:
* Error
* Impure motives  (like, greed, pride, to please listeners, to receive praise)
* To trick you 1 Thessalonians 2:3

We received insults in Philippi. In spite of strong opposition, we dared to tell you the good news of Jesus Chris. Thessalonians 2:2

We never use flattery. We speak as men approved by God to be trusted with his good news. We are trying to please God. God tests our hearts on this. 1 Thessalonians 2:5-6

Be a Model Of the Lord

1 Thessalonians 1

Be a Model Of the Lord* Turn to God from idols.
* Wait for the Son from heaven.
*
Welcome the message from the Holy Spirit.
*
Imitate, be a model, of the Lord
*
Be inspired by hope
*
Be prompted by love
*
Be a at work by faith to produce fruit
*
Be in prayer for all
*
Be thankful to God for all, both those saved and yet to be saved.

What can you not live without. That is your idol. When loss comes, do you despair?  When loss comes do you worry, feel anxious, is your joy removed? If you do, that is your god, your idol.
