The Man of Lawlessness

The Pirate Gospel — Second Thessalonians Chapter Two

Mates, concernin’ the comin’ of the Son and we be gathered ter him, we ask you, me hearties, not ter lose yer moorings and be set adrift. If any lack stability secure yer faith with extra lines, fer thar be no need ter be alarmed and sound the bell. Any alleged teachin’ or prophecy, any rumors or penned message purported ter ‘ave come from us that asserts the day of the Lord be come and gone be a lie. Fer the Son ‘ill not come until the man of lawlessness be revealed first.

The Comin’ of the Son

Remember that the Son warned such lying scoundrels would crop up among some in the crew.

“Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.” — The Son (Mark 13:6-8)

False Teachers and Preachers

Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, not even ’em who claim ter come in the Son’s name. Fer that day cannot come ’till a mutinous rebellion takes place, you may lay ter that. Again, the Son warned us ter be on guard fer such a revolt.

“At that time many will abandon the faith and turn away from me. They will betray brothers and sisters. They will hate you because of me. Many false prophets and teachers will appear and deceive the masses. Because of rampant sin and the increase of wickedness, the agape love for my Father will grow cold among most who claim to be in the faith.” — The Son (Matthew 24:10-12)

The Man of Lawlessness

When this occurs you

ill know that the man of lawlessness ‘ill soon be revealed, that sly feller doomed ter destruction. He ‘ill oppose the Son and Skipper and reject thar words. He ‘ill exalt himself over everythin’ Skipper stands fer and set himself up in Skipper’s temple, proclaimin’ himself ter be Skipper.

Do you not know that yer bodies be temples of the Holy Spirit: the very Spirit of the Son who be in you? Yer bodies be not yer own but Skipper’s. Therefore, don’ let the man of lawlessness — that man of sin — ter take up residence in yer body (1 Corinthians 6:19)

A Great Restraining Force

Now we know what be holdin’ him back: the Son’s Spirit, fer his Holy Spirit be a powerful restraining force. If his Spirit be in you, then sin cannot abide. But once his Spirit departs, then all hell breaks loose.

Even now the secret power of lawlessness be at work, but the One who holds it back ‘ill continue ter do so till he be taken out of the way.

The End of the Man of Lawlessness

At that time the man of sin ‘ill be revealed, whom the Son ‘ill overthrow with the breath of his mouth (Revelation 19:21). At the comin’ of the Son he ‘ill destroy the works of sin, the man of sin and all that be in accordance with the works of Satan.

Wickedness ‘Ill Increase ‘Till the Comin’ of the Son

But until such time the man of sin ‘ill use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders and ways of wickedness ter deceive those who be perishin’. And why do they perish? Because they refused ter love Skipper’s truth and salvation through the Son. If they would but believe, they would be saved.

But they delight in wickedness and refuse ter believe Skipper’s truth. Fer this reason Skipper sends ’em a powerful delusion so that they ‘ill believe the lie and be condemned ter destruction.

Because they don’ see fit ter keep the knowledge of Skipper, he gives ’em over ter a depraved mind and shameful lusts, so they do what ought not ter be done. Even lasses swap natural relations with a feller fer unnatural ones with another lass. In the same way, fellers abandon natural relations and be inflamed with lust fer one another so that they receive into themselves the due penalty fer thar error.

They be filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They be full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They be gossips and slanderers, hate Skipper, and hate the Son. They be insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent ways of doing evil. They disobey thar parents. They have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, and no mercy. Although they know Skipper’s Covenant Code — that committing such acts leads ter death — they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:24-32)

When you see such lawlessness and the unbridled rebellion that comes from such sin, you know the Son ‘ill soon come, you may lay ter that.
