Christ Will Transform Our Bodies So They Will Be Like His

Philippians 3

Christ Will Transform Our Bodies So They Will Be Like HisI hope in the Lord Jesus to . . . Philippians 2:19

God had mercy on him and he did not die. Philippians 2:27

As for legalistic righteousness, I was faultless. Philippians 3:6

Now I do not have a righteousness of my own that comes from the LAW, but rather, I have a righteousness that comes from the LORD. Philippians 3:9

Christ will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Philippians 3:21

Place the Interests of Others Above Yours

Philippians 2

Place the Interests of Others Above YoursIf you have any encouragement from being united with Christ . . .

If you have any comfort from his love . . .

If you have any tenderness and compassion . . .

If you have any fellowship with his spirit . . .

. . . then be of one mind and work in agreement together with one another.

Do NOTHING out of selfish ambition. Pleasure from personal profit is evidence of a sinful nature. Instead, look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others. In fact, place their interests above yours. This is the will of Christ who, being in his very nature God, made himself nothing for us. This should also be your attitude. Philippians 2: 1-11

Temptation directs me towards what I understand to be good. When I yield to temptation, I make lust a god. God does not save us from temptation — God sustains us in the midst of temptation. Oswald Chambers

It Has Been Granted to You to Suffer for Christ

Philippians 1:12-29

It Has Been Granted to You To Suffer for ChristI want you to know that what happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. Philippians 1:12 (Can we say that what happens to us because of our faith in Christ advances the gospel? Or are we so busy complaining about how we’re treated that the gospel loses ground in our area of [social] influence?)

It has become clear that I am in chains in order to encourage others and speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly. Philippians 1:13-14 (In our hardships do we encourage others to speak the word of God courageously and fearlessly? Or are our words merely complaints based on our self-rights-ness?)

I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Holy Spirit what is happening to me will turn out for my deliverance. Philippians 1:19 (Are our prayers sending help to someone through the Holy Spirit? Or are our prayers mainly for deliverance from our current trials?)

I eagerly expect and hope that I will not be ashamed of my actions but have the courage to witness for Christ. Philippians 1:20 (When we look back on our life, will be ashamed of the words spoken to others, the acts committed against others, and the poor witness of Christ presented to others?)

Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Philippians 1:27

This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed and you will be saved — that you stand firm in one spirt, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way. Philippians 1:28 (As the persecution of those in Christ increases, will we stand firm in our faith, absorb the blows of others, and pray that God will forgive them? Or will we lash out with words and weapons?)

It has been granted to you on behalf of Christ to not only believe in Christ, but also to suffer for him. Philippians 1:29

If we have been regenerated through Christ, then God will change our attitudes about the things for which we pray. Oswald Chambers

My Prayer for You

Philippians 1:1-11

My Prayer for YouI thank my God every time I remember you. (Can others say the same about me?) In all my prayers, I always pray with joy because of your partnership. (With whom am I partnering in spreading God’s Good News?) Philippians 1:3-5

This is my prayer for you.

May your love abound more and more. May your knowledge and depth of insight in God grow. In all circumstances may you be able to discern what is best. May you be blameless and pure. May you be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes from Christ. – Amen. Philippians 1:9-11

Christian love is rooted in knowledge and understanding.

God will allow you to work in only one way — the way of truth. If you act deceitfully, God’s blight and ruin will be upon you. The greatest spiritual crisis comes when a person has to move a little farther on in his faith than the beliefs he has already accepted. – Oswald Chambers

The Words of Jesus to the Apathetic Church

Revelation 3:14-22

The Words of Jesus to the Apathetic ChurchI am the Amen, the faithful and true witness. I am the ruler of God’s creation. Revelation 3:14

I know you your deeds, that you are neither hot nor cold. Where is your passion, your zeal, your love for me? You have my words, but you do not believe. You claim to love others, but you do not warn them to turn from their sins, come to me, and be saved. You are like clouds and wind that do not bring rain. When people will not endure sound teaching, you give them what their itching ears long to hear. I warn you, a judgement is coming on those who pervert the grace of my Father.

I wish you would reject me outright or love me with all your heart, mind, and soul, but since you seek to avoid offending both man and God I am about to vomit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15-16

Put salve on your eyes so you can see your shameful nakedness and cover yourself. Revelation 3:18

Be earnest. Repent! Here I am, knocking, trying to get your attention. Open the door! Revelation 3:19-20

If you wake up and return to the love you once had, I will give you the right to sit with me on my thrown.

Revelation 3:21

Even the very smallest thing that we allow in our lives that is not under the control of the Holy Spirit is sufficient to lead to spiritual confusion. But as soon as we obey the Holy Spirit, we have discernment. – Oswald Chambers

The Words of Jesus to the Faithful Church that Endures to the End

Revelation 3:7-13

The Words of Jesus to the Faithful Church that Endures to the EndThese are my holy and true words. My Father has placed on my shoulder the key of the house of David. What I open no one can shut, and what I shut no one can open. As in the days of my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah, my Father has clothed me with a robe, fastened a sash around me, and given me his authority. I will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem, to the people of Judah, and throughout the world.

I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.

Since you have kept my word and my commands and have not denied my name, but rather have endured patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is coming to test those who live on the earth.

Hold on to what you have so that no one will take your crown.

He who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave.

I will write on him the name of my God. I will write on him the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God. I will also write on him my new name.

Hear with your listening ears to what the Holy Spirit says to the faithful church that endures to the end.

The very character we exhibit in our present surroundings is an indication of what we will be like in other surroundings. Oswald Chambers

Isaiah 22:20-22

The Words of Jesus to the Compromising Church

Revelation 2:18-29

The Words of Jesus to the Compromising ChurchThese are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.

I know your deeds. I know your love. I know your faith. I know your service. I know your perseverance. I know that you are now doing more than you did at first. I know all this.

Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching this Jezebel in your midsts misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. She follows in the ways of her predecessor who:

  • Had all the prophets of the LORD killed by the sword.
  • Who threatened the life of Elijah.
  • Who had Naboth the Jezreelite stoned to death
  • Who stole Naboth’s vineyard.
  • Who worked wickedness among the kingdom of Ahab.
  • Who spread idolatry and witchcraft and sexual immorality.

This the one you welcome into your midst.

I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling, so I will cast her on a bed of suffering. I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

To those of you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, I say hold on to what you have until I come.

To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations. I will also give that one the morning star. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

2 Kings

It is inconceivable, but true nevertheless, that saints are not “bringing every thought [and project] into captivity,” but are simply doing work for God that has been instigated by their own human nature, and has not been made spiritual through determined discipline. – Oswald Chambers
