1 Thessalonians 2

We Are Trying to Please GodOur visit to you was not a failure. 1 Thessalonians 2:1, though some appeal to you from:
* Error
* Impure motives  (like, greed, pride, to please listeners, to receive praise)
* To trick you 1 Thessalonians 2:3

We received insults in Philippi. In spite of strong opposition, we dared to tell you the good news of Jesus Chris. Thessalonians 2:2

We never use flattery. We speak as men approved by God to be trusted with his good news. We are trying to please God. God tests our hearts on this. 1 Thessalonians 2:5-6

 

Be a Model Of the Lord

1 Thessalonians 1

Be a Model Of the Lord* Turn to God from idols.
* Wait for the Son from heaven.
*
Welcome the message from the Holy Spirit.
*
Imitate, be a model, of the Lord
*
Be inspired by hope
*
Be prompted by love
*
Be a at work by faith to produce fruit
*
Be in prayer for all
*
Be thankful to God for all, both those saved and yet to be saved.

What can you not live without. That is your idol. When loss comes, do you despair?  When loss comes do you worry, feel anxious, is your joy removed? If you do, that is your god, your idol.

Colossians 3

In the Valley of Dry Bones Is Where Your Faith In God Is TestedWives, submit to your husband. (This is the point where Eve stumbled.)

Husbands, love your wives. (This is the point where Adam stumbled by failing to bring Eve to God for restoration.)

Fathers, encourage your children. (This is the point where Adam stumbled with Cain.)

Children, obey your parents. (This is the point where Cain stumbled.)

Workers, obey your employers. Colossians 3:18-23

Employers, provide for your workers with what is right and fair. Remember, you have a boss in heaven. Colossians 4:1

Do this not only when the eyes of others are on you and to win brownie points, but sincerely and out of reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart. Work at it as though you are working for the Lord, not men, for it is the Lord Jesus Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:24

The height of the mountain is measured by the depth of the valley. In the valley with others is where you live for the glory of God. In humiliation is where we find our true worth in God. Oswald Chambers

In the valley of dry bones is where your faith in God is tested. All the power of heaven and earth belong to God, both on the mountaintop and in the valley. And that power is yours through Christ.

Present the Word of God In Its Fullness

Colossians 1

Present the Word of God In Its FullnessChrist suffered afflictions for the sake of his body, which is the church. Colossians 1:24

My commission from God is to present the word of God in its fullness. Colossians 1:25

The mystery of God is this: that Christ is in you. Therefore, may everyone be perfect in Christ. Colossians 1:27-28

In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:3

Make sure no one deceives you by fine-sounding arguments. Colossians 2:4

Make your purpose to encourage in heart, be united in love, be full of the riches of Christ, and have complete understand of the mystery of God. Colossians 2:2

If you are called by God, it doesn’t matter how difficult circumstances may be. Oswald Chambers

Colossians 1

May God Bless You With Great Endurance, Patience, and JoyTo the holy, believing, and faithful brothers in Christ, I write to you. Colossians 1:1

You have a hope stored up for you in heaven that is revealed to you in the word of truth, that is, the gospel. All over the world the gospel is bearing fruit and growing. Colossians 1:5-6

We pray that God will fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Colossians 1:9

In response to God’s blessing and grace, live a life worthy of the Lord. Please him in every way. Bear fruit in every good work. Grow in the knowledge of God. Be strengthened with all power. Colossians 1:10-11

May God, according to his glorious might, bless you with great endurance, patience, and joy. Colossians 1:11-12

Be full of joy. Give thanks to God who has rescued you from the dominion of darkness and brought you into the kingdom of light, that is the kingdom of his Son. Colossians 1:13

The words of the Lord hurt and offend until there is nothing left to hurt or offend. Oswald Chambers

Renew your concern for me. Philippians 4:

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Philippians 4:23

The thing the Holy Spirit will detect in you is your nature that can never work in His service. Oswald Chambers

Do Not Be Anxious About Anything

Do Not Be Anxious About AnythingLet your gentleness be evidence to all. Philippians 4:4

Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in everything, by prayer and petitions, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. In doing so, the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds in Christ. Philippians 4:6-7

Whatever is true, noble, loving, pure, right, admirable, excellent or worthy of praise — allow thee things to occupy your mind. Philippians 4:8-9

Whatever you have learned, received, heard, or seen in and from me, put these things into practice. Philippians 4:9

One or two will show gratitude for your acts in Christ. Most will show total ingratitude. This is the way of Jesus. Oswald Chambers
