1 Samuel 24

1 Samuel 24“May the Lord judge between you and me. May the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me.” 1 Samuel 24:12

“From evildoers come evil deeds.” 1 Samuel 24:13

Lord, may I be foolish enough today to trust in Your wisdom and supernatural equipment.

The great controlling factor is not the needs of the people, but the commands of God. Oswald Chambers

1 Samuel 23

1 Samuel 23David inquired of the Lord. 1 Samuel 23:2

The Lord answered him. 1 Samuel 23:2

But David’s men said to him … 1 Samuel 23:3

Once again David inquired of the Lord. Again the Lord answered him. 1 Samuel 23:4

“O Lord, God of Israel … please tell your servant …”

God did not give David into the hands of his enemies. 1 Samuel 23:14

Lord, you honor those who come to you in submission – who eagerly seek to know their course and action from you. Like David, may you give me detailed instructions today for the steps I should take to avoid my enemies and lead others to you.

 

God will do with you what He is not doing with other people. Let him have His way. Oswald Chambers

1 Samuel 22

1 Samuel 22“Would you let my father and mother stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?” 1 Samuel 22:3

Do not stay in the stronghold.” 1 Samuel 22:5

“Was that day the first time I inquired of God for him? Of course not!” 1 Samuel 22:15

I am responsible for the death of your father’s whole family.” 1 Samuel 22:22

Lord, help me today to learn what you would have me do for you. May I learn to leave the strongholds that protect me and venture into unknown lands. I am responsible for my family, community, country … Help me to share your message — even if it cost me my life.

1 Samuel 21

1 samuel 21There was no bread except the bread of the Presence that had been removed from before the Lord. 1 Samuel 21:6

Doeg the Edomite, Saul’s head shepherd, was there that day. The Lord had detained him. 1 Samuel 21:7

Lord, give me my daily bread today. You are sovereign. You engage with us in ways we cannot see. Help me to trust your Will, even when it does not make sense to me.

 

Have you come to the place where God can withdraw His blessing from you without your trust being affected? Oswald Chambers

1 Samuel 17

David ran to the battle. 1 Samuel 17:22

“Go, and the Lord be with you.” 1 Samuel 17:32

“I cannot go in these – I am not used to them.” 1 Samuel 17:39

I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.” 1 Samuel 17:45

David ran quickly towards him. 1 Samuel 17:48

With their hero dead, they turned and ran. 1 Samuel 17:52

Lord, may I be filled with your spirit today and run towards the next great challenge you have placed before me. May I come against my problems in the name of the Lord Almighty. 

“He who believes in me will do greater works than these.”

Prayer does not equip us for greater work – prayer IS the greater work. Oswald Chambers.

1 Samuel 12

The Lord your God was your King. 1 Samuel 12:12

If both you and the king who reigns over you follow the Lord your God — good! But if you do not obey the Lord, if you rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you. 1 Samuel 12:15

Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. 1 Samuel 12:23

But if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away. 1 Samuel 12:25

Lord, you are my God and King. May your hand be with me. Help me to obey your commands. Remind me to pray for those who struggle with sin and temptations. Do not cast me from your sight. Rather, welcome me with open arms and remove all sin from my life. 

 

You have had the vision, but you are not yet to the reality of it by any means. It is when we are in the valley, where we prove whether we will be the choice ones, that most of us turn back. Oswald Chambers

We have seen what we are not, and what God wants us to be, but are we willing to be battered into the shape of the vision to be used by God? Oswald Chambers

If we prefer to relax on the mountaintop and live in the memory of the vision, then we will be of no real use. Oswald Chambers

We have to learn to live in reliance upon what we saw in the vision. Oswald Chambers

God not only knows where we live, but also knows the gutters into which we crawl! Oswald Chambers

1 Samuel 5

Every knee shall bowThe Philistines carried the ark of the Lord into Dagon’s temple and set it beside Dagon. 1 Samuel 5:2

The next day, there was Dagon fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord. 1 Samuel 5:3

“Have the ark moved to Gath.” But the Lord afflicted the people with an outbreak of tumors in the groin. 1 Samuel 5:9

Lord, your power extends throughout the world. You have sworn that all will fall before you. May it be so for me and my family. May we drop to our knees and worship you.
