Skipper Be Tha God of Tha Living

Finding Jesus

Skipper Be Tha God of  Tha Living

God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. – Mark 12:27 (Mark 12:18-27)

One day tha Sadducees, who did not believe in tha resurrection of tha dead, came ter tha Son with a question. “Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died without leaving any children. The second one married the widow, but he also died, leaving no child. It was the same with the third. In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too. At the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?”

Now ya might think this be a discussion ’bout marriage and mates and tha fates of them who get ter spend eternity with Skipper and his Son. Only think on this a wee little bit. Tha SADs whar not really interested in marriage and mates and life after tha grave. They didn’ even believe in a second birth or bodies coming out of tha grave. No, what they be fixed on whar seeing if they could trap tha Son with his own words.

A good many behave tha same ter day. They know all manner of words from Skipper’s Code of Conduct and ‘ill spout arguments that pit one portion of his Code agin another. Only they doth not believe in Skipper’s Code. They simply be making arguments ter try and prove Skip’s Code kin not hold water.

Jest tha same tha Son give the SADs an answer. “Those who are considered worthy for taking part in the resurrection of the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. They can no longer die for they will be like angels [in that way]. Since they are children of the resurrection THEY are God’s children. Now about the dead rising—have you not read the book of Moses? God is not the God of the dead but the living. In your understanding of the book of Moses you are badly mistaken! You do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage.” (Luke 20:34-38) (Mark 12:18-27) (Matthew 22:30)

We kin ne’er give another feller or lass what ya ‘ave found in Skipper’s Code, but we kin cause folks ter ‘ave a desire fer it. Skipper be tha God of  tha living. Live like ya believe it. Live with tha hope ya ‘ill rise agin. And if ya be married, treasure ever moment tergether here on this earth.
