God did not give David into the hands of his enemies. 1 Samuel 23:14

Lord, you honor those who come to you in submission – who eagerly seek to know their course and action from you. Like David, may you give me detailed instructions today for the steps I should take to avoid my enemies and lead others to you.

God will do with you what He is not doing with other people. Let him have His way. Oswald Chambers

All of God’s people are ordinary people who have been made extraordinary by the purpose God has given them. Oswald Chambers.

1 Samuel 17

Lord, may I be filled with your spirit today and run towards the next great challenge you have placed before me. May I come against my problems in the name of the Lord Almighty.

“He who believes in me will do greater works than these.”

Prayer does not equip us for greater work – prayer IS the greater work. Oswald Chambers.

2 Kings 23

Golden Calf of HollywoodJosiah tore down the houses of the male cult prostitutes that were in the Lord’s temple. 2 Kings 23:7

Josiah broke down the sacred pillars, cut down the Asherah poles, then filled their places with human bones. 2 Kings 23:14

Then they celebrated the Passover. No such passover had ever been kept from the time of the judges who judged Israel. 2 Kings 23:22

Josiah removed the mediums, the spirits, household idols, images, and all the detestable things. 2 Kings 23:24

In spite of all that, the Lord did not turn from the fury of his great burning anger. 2 Kings 23:26

Lord, you are just. Your are merciful. You are worthy of honor and reverence. Forgive us for our wandering ways. Forgive us for breaking your laws, disobeying your commands, and for preferring the ways of the world to your will. Today, please remove the detestable things from my heart. Help me to draw near to you and worship only you.

God has bigger issues at stake than the particular things you are asking of him right now. Oswald Chambers

2 Kings 22

Your eyes will not see all the disaster you are going to bring on this place

My eyes will not see all the disaster you are going to bring on this placeThe prophetess Huldah lived in Jerusalem, in the Second District. 2 Kings 22:15

“Tell the king of Judah, this is what the Lord says, ‘I will gather you to your fathers and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.” 2 Kings 22:20

Lord, today I leave for Tampa. But this verse speaks to me because a category 4 hurricane is approaching my home. My eyes will not see all the disaster you are going to bring on this place, but I pray you will keep my family, friends, and those in the path of this storm … safe.

If we do not steadily minister in everyday opportunities, we will do nothing when the crisis comes. Oswald Chambers

We have to go the “second mile” with God (see Matthew 5:41). Yet some of us become worn out in the first ten steps. Oswald Chambers

Notice the kind of people that God brings around you, and you will be humiliated once you realize that this is actually His way of revealing to you the kind of person you have been to Him. Oswald Chambers

2 Kings 19

King Hezekiah sent the palace administrator, the secretary, and the leading priests to the prophet Isaiah. They told Isaiah, “Pray for the remnant that still survives.” 2 Kings 19:2-4

Isaiah said to them: “Listen! This is what the Lord says. ‘Do not be afraid of what you have heard—those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. I am going to put such a spirit in Rabshakeh that he will return to his own country. There I will have him cut down by the sword.” 2 Kings 19:5-7

Lord, God over all the kingdoms on earth, give ear to my prayer and hear. Open your eyes and see. Deliver us from the hand of those who insult your name so that all the kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God!

God rarely allows a person to see how great a blessing he is to others. Oswald Chambers

Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or difficulty. Oswald Chambers.

2 Kings 17

The imported people did not worship the Lord, so he sent lions among them and they killed some of the people. 2 Kings 17:25

One of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria came to live in Bethel. He taught them how to worship the Lord. 2 Kings 17:28

“You must always be careful to keep the decrees and ordinances, the laws, and the commands God wrote for you.” 2 Kings 17:37

Lord, there are many who say your ordinances, laws, and commands no longer apply; that we have “progressed” to a place in history where your words are no longer relevant. The people in Samaria held a similar view. They assumed you could be worshipped along side Baal, the god of fertility and “Lord Prince of the Earth.” Even within the Body of Christ today, there are those who believe we honor you by rejecting your words. I pray that your words will find fertile ground in my heart. That through your Holy Spirit you will teach me how to worship you as Lord of my life and Lord of Heaven and Earth. Please send teachers and leaders to instruct those in the Church who do not know how to worship you as Lord. Amen.

If you are always keeping blessings to yourself and never learning to pour out anything “to the Lord” other people will never have their vision of God expanded through you. Oswald Chambers

2 Kings 17

The King of Assyria discovered that the king of Israel was a traitor, for he had sent envoys to the king of Egypt. 2 Kings 17:4

The Israelites secretly did things against the Lord their God. 2 Kings 17:9

They did not trust in the Lord their God. They rejected his decrees. They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless. 2 Kings 17:14-15

They sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the Lord2 Kings 17:17

So the Lord rejected all the people of Israel; he afflicted them and gave them into the hands of plunderers. 2 Kings 17:20

Lord, I confess that I am a traitor. I secretly do things against you. I do not trust in your goodness, grace, and mercy. I reject your decrees and instructions for me. I follow worthless teachings, chase after fantasies, and become an ungrateful, worthless servant. Please do not reject me. Do not afflict me as I deserve. Do not give me into the hands of the evil one. Rather, rescue me from myself. Please, Lord, have mercy on me.
