The Law of the Lord is Still Perfect

Psalm 19:7

The Law of the Lord is Still Perfect

The law of the LORD is perfect. (Psalm 19:7)

From infancy, if our mum and pop trained us up properly, we be familiar with the Holy Scriptures. When we follow Skip’s Code of Conduct, his law kin make us wise fer salvation through faith in his Son. (2 Timothy 3:15)

Only thar be another group that claims Skipper’s Law be not perfect, but flawed.

“God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5)

In response ter this lie from the devil, Skipper said ter that lying snake, “Cursed are you!” (Genesis 3:14)

Cursed, indeed, we all be, fer we fell fer that lie. In response Skip offered us a way back inter his loving arms. “If you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then you will be my treasured possession.” (Exodus 19:5)  Fer a while we did everything Skip said. (Exodus 19:8)

Then we went back ter our old sinning ways.

In this way Skip’s truth be revealed: all who rely on works of the law be cursed under the law. (Galatians 3:10) Not a single one of us kin keep Skip’s law. (Romans 3:23)

“Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out.” (Deuteronomy 27:26)

Cursed we be.

Or were.

Now we be set free from the curse of sin. Not because we kin keep Skip’s laws, but ’cause his Son kept them fer us. Skip gives us his Spirit ter work miracles among us, not by the works of the law, but by believing what we heard and read ’bout his Son. (Galatians 3:5)

Skip’s law be but obedience. (Galatians 3:12)

Freedom from the curse of sin comes because Skip’s Son became accursed fer us.  (Galatians 3:13)

Skip’s law does not set aside the covenant established between Skip and Abraham, fer if our inheritance of Skipper’s promises depend upon us keeping his law, then the promise of our inheritance be not a promise, but a transaction. (Galatians 3:17-18)

Does Skip’s Code of Conduct oppose his promises? Heaven ferbid!

Fer if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But Skip’s Code of Conduct locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in the Son, might be given to those who believe. Befer the coming of the Son, we whar held in custody under the law, chained, as it whar, until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law whar our guardian until the Son arrived. In this way we be justified by faith, not by works and holding ter every law.  (Galatians 3:21-25)

Because we believe in the Son as our savior, we are no longer be under the guardianship of Skip’s Code of Conduct.

Only, if we do not ‘ave faith in the Son as our savior, then we remain under the supervision of the law and subjects ter it.

Does Skip’s law promote sin? Heaven ferbid! We would not know what sin whar except fer the law. (Romans 7:7) Apart from Skip’s Code of Conduct, sin be dead. But when the commandments arrived, sin sprang ter life like a snake. Bit us, sin did, and in that moment we died. (Romans 7:9)

Skip’s law be holy. His Code of Conduct be holy. (Romans 7:12)

And the only way we get back inter the loving arms of a holy skipper is ter be holy. We kin not be holy on our own. Skip’s Code of Conduct proves this. Only through the blood of his Son kin we be holy.

Praise be Skip’s Son kept ever’ command and died in our place fer our sins so that we might be with him in his Father’s house. This be a mysterious journey, but one which, if we ‘ill dare take, leads ter peace and a joy that ‘ill ne’er end.

Feel the Heat

Psalm 19:4-6

Feel the Heat

In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming from God’s pavilion.
It is like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
The sun rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other.
Nothing is hidden from its heat.
(Psalm 19:4-6)

When seen, we feel the sun’s heat. Unseen, we still feel its heat.

The sun be above all. Skipper’s Son also be above all.

The sun comes like a bridegroom.

Skippers’s Son comes ter us as our bridegroom, fer we, his Church, be his bride.
(John 3:29) (Matthew 9:15) (Mark 2:19) (Luke 5:34) (Revelation 22:17) (2 Corinthians 11:2) (Luke 5:35) (John 2:9) (Revelation 19:7) (Mark 2:18) (Ephesians 5:25-27) (Matthew 9:14-15)

The sun rejoices in its daily run.

Skipper’s Son rejoiced when his work on the cross whar completed, fer his joy was complete.
(John 15:11) (Luke 15:5-7) (John 17:13) (Hebrews 12:2)

Nothing is hidden from the sun.

Nothing is hidden from Skip’s Son.

Nothing is hidden from the sun’s heat.

Nothing is hidden from Skip’s Son’s intense heat.

Praise be that the sun that warms man and the earth and provides us with life-sustaining warmth.

Praise be that Skipper’s Son provides us with eternal life through his shed blood on the cross.

May we look up at the heavens, see the sun, and praise Skipper fer his Son, our Lord and Savior.

Amen.

No Excuse

Psalm 19:1-4

No Excuse

The heavens declare the glory of God.
The skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day the work of his hands pour forth speech.
Night after night the heavens reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words.
No sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth.
Their words to the ends of the world.
(Psalm 19:1-4)

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)

Ah good many like ter claim thar be no captain, no skipper, no God. That science and reason and book smarts kin explain how all we know and enjoy come about. Only think on this a wee little bit:

Tha evidence of Skip’s glory be available fer all ter see. Even them without eyes ter see kin tell thar be a creative order ter his work tha shames tha efforts of fellers. Tha birth of a child be a miraculous and joyful thing and yet, not nary a feller ‘as ever made a tiny human from nothing. Only Skip done that.

We kin procreate folks, but we kin not create folks.

Skip’s fingerprints be clearly seen in tha skies.

Though silent, tha heavens speak of his supremacy.

We like ter think we be in charge of land and sea, that we kin control tha weather and climate, but that be foolish thinking. Skip alone be tha one with his fingers on tha pulse of tha waves and winds.

If ya wish ter be wise, open yer eyes and see. If ya wish ter be learned, listen with yer ears and hear.

Not a single feller or lass on tha planet ‘as any excuse fer denying tha grandeur of Skipper. As a result, Saul Paul warns:

Although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.

They exchanged the truth about God for a lie.

They worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.

They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful.

They invent ways of doing evil.

They disobey their parents.

They have no understanding.

They have no fidelity, no love, no mercy.

Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:26-32)

Thar be no excuse fer shutting yer eyes, ears, and mind ter tha glory of Skip. No excuse, that is, unless ya prefer ter worship another god — a god made in yer image — instead of tha God of tha heavens and earth.

If that be tha case, yer blood be on yer own head.

Not simply an answered prayer, but abundance. “She quickly emptied her jar into the trough, and ran back to the well to draw more.” (Genesis 24:20)

One of that crew sent along this prayer fer healing. May ya be blessed and made whole.

Lord, I agree with Your Word that sickness is not Your will for __________, __________, __________, and __________.

As your prophet Isaiah said, “Surely YOU took up our pain and bore our suffering, our afflictions, our disorders, our diseases, our maladies, our ailments, and all our illnesses.” (Isaiah 53:4) (Matthew 8:17)

You bore our sins in your body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live without sickness and be made whole for righteousness. (1 Peter 2:24) When you realized that power had gone out from you, you turned and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” (Mark 5:30)  When rebuked by your disciples, you replied, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” (Luke 8:46)

In your powerful and holy name we bring __________, __________, __________, and __________.  before you and ask that you touch each of them with your hands of healing. May they feel your miraculous power flowing into them at this moment.

What Do You Want Me to Do for You?

We Must Pick: Faith? Or Doubt?

What Do You Want Me to Do for You?

“What do you want me to do for you?” – Matthew 21:32 (Matthew 21:29-34)

On tha Son’s way up from Jericho ter Jerusalem, two blind men whar sitting by tha road.

When they heard tha Son was passing by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” Tha crowd told ’em ter hush up, but they shouted all tha louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Jesus stopped, turn towards ’em and said, “What do you want me to do for you?”

“Lord,” they replied, “we want our sight.’

Right off tha Son had compassion on ’em and touched thar eyes. Immediately they received thar sight and followed tha Son. Think on this a wee little bit:

Two fellers hung out ter gether. Ah feller by himself might get attacked, but ah pair stands ah better chance of beating off robbers and such. When it comes ter suffering, it helps ter have friends near by.

Thar ears whar open and listening. This be tha right attitude fer getting ah healing. Tha Son said them who ‘ave ears ‘ought ter open ’em and be alert at all times.

Soon as tha pair learned it whar tha Son passing by, hope swelled in thar hearts. No doubt they knew ’bout tha Son and all he done. They believed tha tales told by others of his healing, tha provision he supplied ter ’em in need.

Doth ya believe in tha Son’s power? Or doth ya simply know of tha Son. If ya believe, ya ‘ill ‘ave hope. If you simply know of tha Son, yer spirit ‘ill argue agin healing, claiming such ah miracle not be possible. We must see with our heart’s eyes what our head’s eyes kin not perceive. Faith be tha thing hoped fer, tha thing not yet seen, and yet which we know ter be true.

Will ya believe in tha Son? That be tha question be fer ya while ya seek ter be cured of tha affliction, addiction, illness, or infirmity from which ya suffer.

Nay sayers ordered tha fellers to pipe down, ter stop yapping, but they kept at it.

Doubters and malcontents ‘ill seek ter rob ya of hope, healing, and help from tha Son. Should ya find yerself among such rabble, escape if ya kin, fer they ‘ill only bring ya down ter thar sorry state. If ya be amidst some who claim ter be believers and they be preaching ah message of doubt, gloom, and denying tha power, words, promises, and commands of tha Son and Skipper, high tail it up tha road. Many ah feller or lass suffers from tha sorry sermons of them filled with doubts.

Twice tha pair asked fer mercy. This be key ter healing. We all be reprobates and rascals in need of fergiveness and mercy from tha Son. Not ah one of us be entitled ter anything but tha lash. In humility and trembling, in reverence and fear, ask tha Son fer mercy. Beg fer it. Then expect it. Tha Son be a lord of love. He ‘ill always respond with kindness and compassion ter them who believe.

“What do you want me to do for you?”

This always be tha question put ter us by tha Son. “What do you want?”

If ya don’ know, dive deep in ter yer heart. Plumb tha depths of yer soul. Don’ settle. Ask yer self what ya really want. Then tell tha Son. He kin do all things, fer through him all things whar made. Not a thing exist that whar not made by him (John 1:3).

Name it, but don’ claim it. Let tha Son ‘ave his way with ya. This be ah conversation between tha two of ya. Allow him time ter respond and probe, while ya ponder.

Ter see, that be what tha chaps wanted. O that we might wish ter see tha Son, as well. What a glorious thing it would be if we could see him in all his power and radiance. Ah healing of soul and body ‘ill bring such insight.

Tell tha Son plain what ya want. Then wait fer his touch. Anticipate his hands reaching down, taking hold of ya, massaging tha place of affliction, injury. Feel his gentle stroke. Receive his kindness with gratitude.

Expect immediate healing, fer immediately they received thar sight. Not later that day. Not tha next day, week, month, year, years later. Right then.

Ter expect anything less is ter allow doubt ter take root and as ya well know, faith can not abide with doubt. Ya must pick: faith or doubt.

This be tha story of tha two blind chaps on tha road up from Jericho.

This kin be yer story as well, if only ya ‘ill believe in tha healing power of the Son.

Question be, will ya?
