The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation

Ah Prayer From One of Skip’s Crew

The Lord is my light and my salvation. Psalm 27:1 (Psalm 27:1-8)

Oh Lord, you are my light. Please guide me today.

Oh Lord, you are my salvation. Please save me from worries and wounds, my fears and failures.

When evil advances against me, when men attack and slander me, you have promised they will stumble and fall.

Though an army comes against me, though all manner of burdens and circumstances threaten to destroy me, even then, Lord, be my confidence, my comfort. Care for me.

In my day of trouble — this day — keep me safe in your loving arms. Hide me in the shelter of your tent. Pick me up. Set me upon your rock so that the currents of culture and the swift waters of the world do not sweep me away.

You have said that my head will be exalted above my enemies, those who come against and surround me. May it be so.

Lord may I sing with joy, shout praises of joy, and give to you with joy.

Amen.
