When Jesus Whispers

What Does Jesus Say About Marriage?

Hear the words of Jesus on marriage and its purpose.  Jesus:

My Father formed man from the dust of the ground. He breathed into the man’s nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7) But for the man no suitable helper was found. (Genesis 2:20)

So my Father caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While he slumbered, the Lord God took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to him.

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”

My Father blessed them, and said to them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply. Replenish the earth.’ (Genesis 1:27-28)

Because they are male and female — bone of bone, and flesh of flesh — a man will leave his father and mother and be go into his wife. United, the two become one flesh. My Father did this so that men and women would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far away. (Acts 17:27) Therefore what my Father has brought together, let no one separate. (Genesis 2:21-25, Matthew 19:6)

Not everyone can accept this, but only those to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others. For the sake of the kingdom of heaven, there are those who choose to live like eunuchs. The one who can accept my words should accept them. (Matthew 19:11-12) — Jesus
