Return to Me, and I Will Return to You

Lord Almighty says: “Return to me, and I will return to you.” – Zechariah 1:2-3

Lord Almighty says: “Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.” But the Lord declares, “They would not listen or pay attention to me.” – Zechariah 1:4

The Lord Almighty says: “But you did not obey my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets and your ancestors.” – Zechariah 1:6

The Lord Almighty says: “I am very angry with the nations that feel secure. I was only a little angry, but they went too far.” – Zechariah 1:15

The Lord Almighty says: “I myself will be a wall of fire around Jerusalem and I will be its glory within.” – Zechariah 2:5

The Lord Almighty says: “Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!” Zechariah 2:7 “Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord. – Zechariah 2:10

The Lord Almighty says: “I will be against the nations that have plundered you,Daughter Zion,—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.” – Zechariah 2:8

The Lord Almighty says: “Many nations will be joined with me in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.” –  Zechariah 2:11

It is the saddest thing to see people who are trying to serve God depending on that which the grace of God never gave them. – Oswald Chambers

Here we are at the end of 2020 still trying to serve God with our old ways. We demand our “religious rights to worship” and yet we surrendered all rights when we swore allegiance to Christ and his Kingdom. Could it be our temple worship sickens God? Could it be that is why we are banned from gathering in our shuttered churches? Consider God’s command: “return to me.”  Perhaps, like Elvis, God left the building. In 2021 let us seek to return to God wherever we may find him.

Sundays, you’ll find the Pirate Preacher in Moore Square, Raleigh, NC, and at the bus station. There, Team Jesus passes out food, water, chips, and cookies. We also lay hands on and pray with other so they may enjoy the abundant life Jesus promised (John 10:10). His books are read by countless inmates and used to introduce others to Christ. Sometimes he’s asked to speak encouragement to others.
